The CERAP PREVENTION and ATRON METROLOGY teams were invited this week to visit the EDF Flamanville nuclear power plant.
This was a great opportunity to visit the reactor and to see how it works: from the engine room of unit 2 of the NPP, its turbines and alternator, to the heart of the EPR reactor building, its pressuriser and steam generators, and the cooling circuit!
As preventionists and radiation protectionists, we appreciated the improvements in nuclear safety that have been made between the P4 1300 MW reactors of the first two units of the Flamanville NPP and the 1600 MW EPR, which is currently being prepared for fuel loading, scheduled for the first quarter of 2024...
